B.C. OLD TOME FIDDLERS' ASSOCIATION January 2019

SOME OF THE BENEFITS OF MEMBERSHIPS

  • Fees for Dances - Members $6.00, Non - Members $10.00; once a month from October to May of each year
  • Membership dues for existing members have been waived for the years 2021 & 2022
  • Camp out for members in June of each year (to be announced) at zero or minimal cost
  • Tuesday night practice sessions September to May free to any musicians at the Heritage House Lower Lounge 7-9 pm
  • Fall Corn Boil get-together each September
  • Membership includes a free online publication 3 times per year which will have news of the events an activities of all 13 Branches in BC
  • Pot luck dinners twice a year (to be announced)
  • You do not have to be a musician to join, everyone is welcome.
  • All musicians are welcomed to be included in our play outs to give back to our community and join us on stage at our monthly dances
  • All types of instruments are welcome to join in with the old time genre
  • Workshops Hosted by Branch #12 give musicians a discounted price
  • Concerts Hosted by Branch #12 give members a discounted price
  • Members 18 years or younger can apply for assistance towards lessons

YOUTH MUSIC EDUCATION FUND

Criteria As Per January 27, 2019

  • Students 18 years of age & under whose parent, guardian or sponsor is a member in good standing of Branch #12 of the BCOTFA may apply

  • Applicant must apply in writing by December 1st in order to receive funds in January of following year

  • Applicant is to be in their 2nd year of taking lessons

  • Applicant could be taking lessons on any instrument;  preference will be given to those who are learning fiddle or violin,  but must be interested in playing the old time genre

  • Successful applicants would be expected to perform for Branch #12, i.e. at contest, Christmas, June picnic

  • Payouts would be done after our January AGM

  • Funding will be limited to $ 200 / per person / per year

  • Funds paid to applicant, parent, guardian or sponsor upon receipt of proof of payment

  • Please provide documentation &  receipts
